ECUADORIAN PROTOCOL

For all of you out there who are planning to travel to Ecuador on a business trip, please take note of the following protocol for gift giving:

"1) If you are given a gift, you should be effusive in your thanks.
2) When invited into a home for a meal, bring flowers, pastries, or chocolates. Avoid lilies and marigolds, which are used at funerals.
3) Fine wines and liquors are also good gifts.
4) Be sure to select name-brand gifts.
5) If you know you will meet a business associate's family, it is a good idea to bring gifts for the children."
